Travel to the Kingdom’s second capital, Ayutthaya and discover a site with an incredible history, bursting with stories and home to the country’s most impressive Buddhist statues, ancient monuments and Khmer style temples. Accompanied by your expert knowledgeable guide, leave Bangkok behind and journey to Ayutthaya (approx. 80 kilometers, 50 miles), a UNESCO World Heritage site. Stop en route at Bang Pa-In Palace, home of the King’s former summer residence. Built in the 17th century, the architectural style blends influence from the East and the West.

Continue to Ayutthaya and listen to insightful stories as you explore an area rich in 700 years of history before being destroyed by the Burmese. Uncover the most striking ruins including Wat Phra Mahathat, famously known for the Buddha head entwined within the roots of a banyan tree. Discover Wat Phra Si Sanphet, part of the Royal Palace originally built in the 14th century, with its striking bell shaped pagodas. Marvel at the giant reclining Buddha statue at Wat Lokayasutharam. Spend time at the most well-preserved ruins in Ayutthaya Wat Ratchaburana and explore Wat Chai Mongkol.

Breakfast at hotel Wake up at 07.00 AM and be ready to depart at 08.00 AM. We drive to the National park and stop along the way at a fantastic view point and the interesting visitor center.

Khao Yai National Park is Thailand’s second largest, covering 2,168 sq km, and was Thailand’s first National Park, established on September 18, 1962. It has within its boundaries many thick, flourishing forests, waterfalls, and a plentiful supply of wildlife, such as families of elephants, tigers, gibbons, deer, and wild pigs, etc. Khao Yai is located 400 m and higher above sea level, making it cooler and more pleasant than the hot, humid lowlands in Central Thailand. The hot season in Khao Yai is between March and April, followed by the May to October rainy season. The park is open during the rainy season, but travelling on foot can be rather difficult, and you should take heavy raingear and leech medicine.

Pick up from your hotel around 13:00pm meet your guide and take a 4w car to the national park area stop at the viewpoint, see panorama view across the forest and then visit headquarters to get more background information about the park and its wildlife you start a jungle trek of about 3 hours. Take your time and stop sometimes to take in the natural surroundings, your guide can point out lots of animal and insect life which otherwise you might have missed! before driving again to the tracking place after that drive back to your accommodation.

Pickup time at 06.30 AM Early this morning depart to Samut Songkram, where the train station is in the middle of a sprawling market. Vendors use the space between the rails for their trays of vegetables, fruit, and fish. Your guide will walk with you through the market along the tracks until the train arrives!

Continue to the Hellfire Pass Memorial Museum, stopping en route for lunch at a restaurant on the River Kwai.

The Hellfire Pass is a part of the infamous Death Railway, dug out by prisoners of war during the Second World War.

Then we make the short transfer to the famous Kwai Noi River and board a long-tail boat passing beautiful mountainous jungle scenery on the way to The Float House River Kwai.

The rest of the afternoon is at leisure.

Day 2 - SUN, MAR 12, 2023 Kanchanaburi MEALS: B L

Breakfast at hotel After breakfast, once again board the boat and then continue our exploration of Kanchanaburi Province by van. The next stop is Erawan National Park, in the Tenasserim Hills range that runs alongside the border with Myanmar. This 550 sq km park is famous for its tiered waterfalls and turquoise waters.

For those who like a challenge, a small trail leads all the way to the top of the falls.

Alternatively, take it easy and swim in the clear waters of one of the lower tiers of the waterfalls. (Entrance fees included)

Enjoy a simple, but hearty lunch of Thai favorites at local eateries at the National Park before we board the train at the Nam Tok Train Station for a short ride across a scenic section of the railway, over wood viaducts, past mountain cliffs, and more.

Afterwards continue by van to the Bridge over the River Kwai. Then transfer to hotel for check in.

Meet our guide at your hotel and drive to the riverfront Warorot Market, Chiang Mai’s bustling ‘Chinatown’ quarter extending on both sides of Chang Mai Road. Be prepared for an assault on your senses as you encounter unfamiliar sights, smells, and bustling crowds.

Nearby is the market where Hmong hill tribe textiles are for sale while facing the Ping River is the photogenic flower market.

From here we head to Thapae Gate, one of the four original city gates, where we continue by samlor, or rickshaw to a number of temples, including Wat Chiang Man, Wat Phra Singh and Wat Chedi Luang.

You will also have the chance to meet with an English-speaking monk, who will answer your questions and offer some insight into Buddhism.

After this we have lunch at a nice restaurant, before driving up into the hills to visit Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, a sacred temple named after Doi Suthep Mountain with impressive views looking down on Chiang Mai.

Along the way, we will stop briefly at the shrine of the monk Kruba Srivichai, whose followers constructed the road to the temple in 1935.

After participating in a blessing ceremony and admiring the view we drive back to Chiang Mai. On the way down we stop briefly at Wat Pha Lat, Chiang Mai's "jungle temple".

At the end of the afternoon, your guide and driver will drop you off at your hotel.

Spend time with these amazing animals, listen to stories shared by the park ranger guides about the individual rescued elephants, assist with feeding and bathing, while you learn how the sanctuary is offering positive change.

Journey to the outskirts of Chiang Mai, pass rural landscapes and deep into the forest to the acclaimed Kanta Elephant Sanctuary (approx. 45 kilometers / 28 miles). Established by a local Not for Profit Organization, the sanctuary provides an education-focused home and rehabilitation center for rescued animals, predominantly from the tourism and logging industries. Take the opportunity to learn from the professional and passionate ranger guides about the ongoing issues facing wild elephant populations across Southeast Asia.

Change into traditional clothing and assist with the preparation of their special daily diet of sticky rice and fruits. Meet the elephants, take part in the feeding, spend time observing these incredible animals from a safe environment. Enjoy a sumptuous buffet of Asian and International dishes, then watch a safety briefing before accompanying the guides as they head down to the river for their elephant’s afternoon scrubbing. Be prepared to get wet as you lend a hand to scrub them clean with your newly learnt skills.

This 3-hour bicycle tour will show you the REAL Bangkok that casual visitors rarely see. By bike, we will explore Chinatown’s narrow alleyways, markets, and backstreets as well as the charming local areas of Thonburi, nowadays referred to as the 'living part of Bangkok'.

Starting in the heart of Chinatown, our bike ride explores its frenetic market environment. Winding through narrow alleyways, our senses come alive with the sights, sounds, and smells of a community in motion. We’ll pass by shophouses selling everything from Buddhist amulets to recycled truck engines. Locals worshiping at hidden temples, ritual paper burnings, and the omnipresent spirit house display evidence of a culture centuries in the making.

Crossing the Chao Phraya River with majestic views of the city skyline behind us, we visit Thonburi, the historic third capital of Thailand. Contrasting chaotic Chinatown, peaceful elements of local Thai life abound as we cycle through diverse residential communities.
